Table of contents

As we have been explaining on our blog, the Social Security The country's economic situation is not at its best. What is Supplementary Welfare?

The Supplementary Social Welfare (hereinafter referred to as P.S.C.), as their name suggests, aim to helping to improve performance (i.e., inter alia, the pensions) which, in itself, is already provided by the social security system.

Traditionally, these public pensions and subsidies have traditionally been sufficient, thanks to a substitution rate (comparison of the first retirement pension with the last salary) above 70-75%, as well as a sustainable “pension fund”.

However, as we said in the header, we will increasingly see how our Welfare State «protectionist» The pension system is closer to other European cultures, where upper-middle class citizens will have to supplement their pensions in order to maintain a standard of living similar to what they lived in their working lives.

Options for improving social security benefits

This is where the CSP comes in, which can be given from two ways:

  1. Individual track: I, as a citizen, take out a pension plan or other savings product, with the idea of generating targeted savings which, at the end of my working life, will have generated a substantial return for me, which I can recover in order to have a “golden retirement”.
  2. Business track: I, as an employee, am lucky enough to work for a company that pays me in addition to my salary:
    1. a collective savings product, which I will be able to draw on when I retire.
    2. health insurance, life insurance, accident insurance...

There are several ways to do this. The flexible remuneration is an example that will allow employees to take advantage of services and products that are paid for by their employer, but then deducted from the employee's salary, allowing these amounts to be deducted from the employee's income tax. It is a way of increasing take-home pay without costing the company more.
